The second edition of SAIE Selection, international competition for students and architects under the age of 40 officially opened on 19 March with the dual goal of discovering young talents and offering a showcase for innovative solutions for tomorrow's building industry.
 
In keeping with this year's theme, the title of the competition is Integrate to build - Highly integrated innovative and sustainable buildings
 
The purpose of the competition is to select 24 projects that adopt innovative solutions and technologies for building projects with a high level of sustainability.
 
The panel, chaired by architect Mario Cucinella, will focus in particular on projects that respond to one of the following three fundamental parameters:
 
*The use of sustainable criteria (referring to life cycle of the project) taking into account efficiency criteria aiming at reaching ‘zero emission’ solutions.
*Innovative solutions which integrates different materials, technologies, systems or building methods

*Competitive costs. The costs of the project will include the evaluation of operation and maintenance costs.
 
The categories are: Brick, Concrete, Metal & Glass and Wood.
 
Deadline for entering is 3rd of September 2010.
