City of Westminster College wins a New London Award

City of Westminster College by schmidt hammer lassen architects has won a New London Award (NLA) in the Learning category. With the NLA, City of Westminster College is celebrated as one of the best architectural projects in London.

The winners of the first ever New London Awards were announced on 12th July 2011 at a ceremony in Guildhall in London.

“As the awards jury we have sought to reward not only excellence in design but also to recognize architecture that complements the surrounding city. The New London Awards are about buildings that sit comfortably with their neighbours and adjacent spaces and the strength of the winners is remarkable. It goes to show that London is attracting the very best in the world in terms of design and built form despite the economic downturn, and is a positive sign of what is to come.” said NLA Chairman Peter Murray.

This is the second award the City of Westminster College receives this year. In May, the College was awarded the prestigious RIBA award. Also, it is shortlisted for the LEAF award, where the winners will be announced 16th September 2011.
