Perrault renews horseracing in Paris
The famous horsetrack Longchamp in Paris will be renewed. The French architect Dominique Perrault has made the design for the racetrack where annually the Quatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe competitions are held.
The horsetrack in the Bois de Boulogne park knew since the 19th century three main buildings: two tribune buildings and the weigh complex with stables. The tribune building of the Jockey club and the honour tribune will be demolished en rebuild. On the top floor of the building their will be a restaurant. From this restaurant, visiters will have a panoramic view over the racetrack. the oblique roofs of the tribune layers will block the sunlight for the visitors on the stand to improve the view on the racetrack.
Also the stables will be extended, the bet office will be renovated and the weigh complex will be demolished en rebuild. All the buildings will be connected with a wooden gangway, called Les Planches. Because of this the functions will become a sort of campus along the racetrack.
The construction will start after the Quatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in October 2013. In October 2015 this event will be held on the new racetrack.
