Hodder and Partners, a local Manchester firm has designed this new 106 metre tall student tower that has its height accentuated by the local hill it stands on. If built it will be the tallest student block in the world beating the current record holder in Leeds - The Plaza.
It's been designed to fill a currently vacant plot near the city's Oxford Road station at 17 New Wakefield Street, with what is the fourth proposal in as many years for the site.
Hodder and Partners have penned the planned building so it is massed with a series of vertical slabs placed next to each other and neutral grey colours that will accommodate 522 student bedrooms.
One thing that does however stand in the favour of the project is the fact that it's the first project for the site by Allied Developments Ltd who bought it for £1.8 million in September 2008 however they have also built little.
If all goes according to plan, and bear in mind that the previous ideas for the area haven't, the scheme is set to be completed in 2012, a rather ambitious time-scale as they haven't even filed a planning application yet.
