The Faculty wants to use the competition to encourage architects, urban planners and students to make statements about the university building of the future, and specifically the character and position of Delft’s new faculty of architecture.
This international open ideas competition has three objectives:
1) To stimulate research by design.
2) To encourage creativity among the important younger generation of designers.
3) To stimulate scientific development in the field by means of critical reflection and debate.

The Chicago Architectural Club and the Chicago Humanities Festival announce UNION STATION 2020, an international design ideas competition for the conversion of Chicago’s Union Station into a high-speed rail hub, regional market, and meeting place. UNION STATION 2020 asks for innovative solutions for the transformation of Union Station into a center of high speed rail traffic and related programs. It is not simply a question of designing an efficient and functional transit hub.

Design For The Children is an open international design competition for students and professionals, asking participants to explore the potential of future pediatric and prenatal clinics for East Africa. Architecture For Humanity: Seattle is proud to partner with Fight For The Children in the development of this competition. The Taipei City Government cordially invites all outstanding international design teams, to make a world-class performance venue, suited for Taipei’s performing arts activities. The site of the arts center is located next to TRTS Jiantan Station and Cheng De Road, Shilin District. The project consists of three theaters, including a 1,500-seat Grand Theater and two 800-seat Theaters. This performance venue shall provide interactive facilities for avid fans of the performing arts coupled with the appropriate educational functions to enhance the artistic cultural quality of the Greater Taipei area. Through an international competition, we hope to create a more diversified and open environment for artistic creativity in the leading city of Taiwan-Taipei. The center will establish connections to other world-class theaters and attract the international performing community to Taiwan, creating a theater that will lead the way for 21st century theaters.

The subject of the call is the designing of 20 units in the Municipality of Foligno (Perugia), 20 units in the Municipality of Pesaro, 30 units in the Municipality of Tricase (Lecce) of residential buildings for housing cooperatives.
The project will involve the preliminary architectural design of buildings and installations. The building project must highlight how the proposed solutions will take into account eventual planning aspects that will adequately guarantee passive cooling in the summer, class A energy certification according to the criteria on the attached technical charts and make use of renewable resources, at least for the production of hot water and the production of electric energy as stated in the notification.

The competition, organised by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), invites architects to raise the bar and deliver a new housing typology at Northshore, a £300m redevelopment scheme in Stockton-on-Tees. It is planned that 250 family homes will eventually stand at the site, and the partners want creativity and a concept which will break the mould.

The 2009 competition calls for innovative designs for the XXI Century which takes into consideration the historical and social context, the existing urban fabric, the human scale, and the environment.
There is no restriction on site, height or shape. The idea is to give the designers enough freedom to address the challenge in the most creative and innovative way. Designs must be technologically feasible and environmentally responsible. The projects should also investigate on the urban and private space as well as the definition of new programmes for a vertical structure.
