ISOVER sets a good example
New office building in Kallo achieves K20.

ISOVER, the producer of insulation materials and a member of the Saint Gobain group, moves into a brand-new industrial building in Kallo on 7th November. The new premises is an absolute gem when it comes to energy efficiency and easily exceeds the standards of the average office building. Apart from the sales and marketing departments of ISOVER Belgium and Gyproc staff members, the building will also house a showroom and training centre.

Focus on energy efficiency

The construction of the new accommodation involved the use of mainly domestic materials. Ecology and energy efficiency are one of the most important criteria in the development of Isover products, both with regard to insulation power and the reuse of raw materials (glass wool, recycled glass).

Insulation is generally recognised as the best solution to heat loss. Consequently, the new building was a great opportunity for a trendsetter like Isover to clearly show what is possible in this field. Isover therefore incorporated its glass wool products in the new construction, 40 cm in the roof and 20 cm in the façades. The metal façade sheeting is alternated with large super-insulating areas of glass.

These interventions resulted in an insulation value (K-value) of only 20, whereas 45 is the current standard.  Which means that the value Isover achieves is far higher than that of a traditional office building. Generally speaking the energy level, or E-level, comes to 60, which is almost less than half of the energy consumed by an average office building (100).
